This is more than a just a starter banjo. Submitted by Grateful Dude ( see all reviews from this person) on Overall a great experience and I'm already having lots of fun delving into the mysteries of the banjo. The battery for the tuner was dead, but that is extremely minor. Okay, the tuner knobs seem to be cheap plastic, but maybe not.

I ordered with the strings and bridge upgrade so I can't comment on the stock parts there, but everything seems very solid. When I ordered, Paul was very helpful and knowledgeable. Seems like it'll be fine, only had it in my posession less than 24 hrs. Both my wife and daughter commented how much they like the detail on the arm rest. Submitted by renaissanceman929 ( see all reviews from this person) on Hats off to Paul and the folks at The Banjo Hut! I searched around the internet for quite a while, and finally decided on this package, and I'm not disappointed. I highly recommend this banjo package to any newbie like myself. The only thing I've changed are the picks, which were too small for my fat fingers and thumb. Included a book and DVD that are comprehensive and easy to understand. I bought this banjo as part of a beginner package that included the case, tuner, picks, everything. I can't see any reason to replace or upgrade any parts. I replied that I was very pleased with the whole package. He asked me if I felt it was set up properly, and if I thought it was a good deal for the money. Very reliable so far.Ĭalled Paul at The Banjo Hut to let him know how much I liked it, and he was very happy to hear it. Came tuned perfectly right out of the case, and I haven't had to re-tune other than very minor adjustments. I have complete confidence that it will last me a good long while. My guitars are all jealous!įrom my limited experience, it seems like a very well made instrument. Mother of pearl inlay on the headstock, but suspect the fretboard inlay to be mother of plastic. Made of mahogany with a rosewood fretboard. Just had it about a week, and already love it. Submitted by rfish ( see all reviews from this person) on įantastic action. Would reccomend this banjo to anyone just starting out. Much easier and more fun to learn on than a CC-50R or CC-100R.

I just stuck a tiny (and I mean VERY tiny) piece of paper in there to raise the string back up a little bit. Came with a lifetime warranty.ĭon't tune the 5th string up very much, because it will wear a groove in the nut and you will hear fret buzz.

Ross is one of the nicest people you could ever meet. I fully expect it to last at least a good 10 years or more. The finish, as stated before, is quality. Has Ashton-Bailey Planetary Tuners, nickel frets, rolled brass tone ring, mahogany rim, etc. For a banjo under $500, the wood/finish is quality. I'm not exactly sure what the technical name for the color is, but it's kind of reddish-brown. The action was set a bit high for my taste, but I guess that's just personal preference. Has perfect intonation up to the 12th fret or so. Submitted by JGfan ( see all reviews from this person) on
