Trivia time - Pooja Bhatt whose two films ‘Paap’ (2003) and ‘Rog’ (2004) have the rare distinction of being the first two films in the history of Indian Cinema to have been premiered in Pakistan, has now another reason to celebrate. Try 'Rog' and it will make your ears smile! Sufani sounds like a Sufi Quawwali with a heavy bass track added to it. Gali Mein Aa Chaand Nikla Gali Mein Aa Chaand Nikla Gali Mein Aa Chaand Nikla. “Rog Theme’ By Music Mushrooms (of Paap) and Sufani by Gaudi are both innovative and beg repetitive playing. Both singers casts their evocative vocal spell adding depth and passion to the lyrics The singers´ voices have been synthesized giving the number an offbeat appeal. Kreem succeeds in tapping this young singer’s talent by reining him in and giving his voice tremendous control. Sayyed Quadri’ one of Bhatts' favorite lyricists, pens just one song for ‘Rog’ and ‘Tere is Jehan mein’s’ rendition by KK is near perfect. MM Kreem’s rendition is better than Udit’s even though the latter has given the song his all. Pooja Bedi recalled her iconic Gali Mein Aaj Chand Nikla from Zakhm while sharing her Eid wish. Khoobsurat, also penned by Neelesh is easily the best track on the disc. Nilesh Mishra’s lyrics are a nice change from the usual Bollywoody stuff. The songs on the album are all melody laden KK’s Maine Dil Se Kaha is a soft ballad, a ghazal like song with instrumentation. The film stars Irfan Khan (of Maqbool) and Ilene Hamman, the South African model turned actor who is all the rage in Bollywood these days. Pooja Bhatt’s ‘Rog’, a psychological crime thriller is written by Papa Bhatt Mahesh and directed by Himanshu Brambhatt. MM Kreem, the talented (and often underrated) music director who gave us "Tum miley dil khile" (Criminal), "Gali mein aaj chand nikla" (Zakham), "Aa bhi jaa" (Sur) and "Jadoo hai nasha hai" (Jism) presents another platter of delights for ‘Rog”, the new film from the Bhatt factory. That about sums up the essence of this album for me.
